Artful, Heart-full Blogging is an intensely interactive online course teaching you the techniques – poetic, rhetorical, personal, practical – that REALLY make blog posts popular.

Here’s how it works:

• Each week you participate in a one hour live audio class (you’ll use a link or call into my toll-free conference line). After class, I’ll post the MP4 for download – but because this a course requiring your active and intense participation, please register only if you can make every session.
• In each class I’ll share readings, resources, checklists and worksheets with you, and assign you an exercise. (Yes, there’s homework.)
• Our group will meet in a very private Facebook page to discuss the material, review our results, share past and present blog posts for critique (optional), and offer support, feedback and love, sweet love to each other.
• At the end of the course, you’ll get a one-hour, one-on-one Red Shoe Blogger session with me in which I’ll help you plan your personal blog strategy, substantively review three of your pieces and suggest ways you can continue your quest to create searing, soulful blog posts.

And here’s what you’ll learn in each of the five course modules, week by week:

1. The REAL elements of a popular blog post. And by “popular” I mean artful, heart-full and influential. The techniques I teach are NOT the usual “write short, write often, all hail the bullet list”. Instead, I show you my top 50 popular posts (with numbers!) and a round-up of 20 most popular posts by other bloggers, isolate the common trends and artistic elements…and show you how to use them too.
2. Defining and developing your signature moves. Indulge me with a sports anology: all the great soccer players  have two or three signature moves that make them AMAZING. So do writers. In this module, I’ll teach you how to figure out what your signature moves are – and how to add some new ones to your artistic vocabulary. Your blog posts – and your readers - will thank you.
3. Elevating and integrating your signature moves into ART, baby. Every time. This week I’ll do a live review of a series of blog posts and write and rewrite blog posts (again, live, in front of your eyes) to enhance rhetorical and poetic elements like hooks, readability, emotional tension, pace, visual imagery, cadence and storytelling structure.
4. Creatively using the principles of ‘scannability’ – how people read online – to enhance your art and advance your narrative. Constraints are creative manna. Let’s make that our mantra. There will also be a dash of artful SEO (actually, un-SEO) that will NOT assasinate your writerly soul. Promise.
5. Wrap-up Q&A. All those questions that didn’t get covered off each week (gasp!) or in discussion? Now is the time for all those brilliant questions to shine. Ask me anything (well, almost anything) in this group session. (And this, of course, is  followed by a one-on-one hour-long session – scheduled at your convenience - with me.)
