@Nono, allow me to quote myself (ahem, wink, wink):

"And, given that she’s a poet, I’m willing to bet she knows the distinction between irony and paradox, both of which are at play in today’s Sunday School lesson."

And so, for those who read between the lines, the sideways point of my piece was that I'd like to see more artful, playful, provocative titles...

...and given the choice between dramatic or SEO-friendly titles (and I am given that choice), I would err on the side of drama.

That being said, I'm a blogger. Of course I want my pieces read by as many people as possible, which means that SEO is NOT the enemy.

(Or, if it is, then I'm definitely sleeping with the enemy.)

But SEO is NOT the boss, either. And that was the extension of my point: don't sacrifice the fun for formulaic copy that, as you put it, feeds the spiders</b/.

But when successfully spinning your sparkly web o' words, don't forget to feed the spiders.

Because a talented writer can do both.

This is a misleading post. The titles that you have written are so geared toward search engines - blogging business models, small business, other woman... duh!

It would have been a lot better if you just spoke about how you can easily write "sexed up" as you call it titles without compromising on feeding the spiders.

Very disappointingly misleading. I hope people did not take your advice literally.
