Thanks for the thought-provoking essay. It's waking me up from my early morning fog. The coffee's helping too.

Very cute post! :) I totally agree, many of us are hope(full!) romantics, looking for that exception... because that's what love is, right? Out of thousands of acquaintances, you choose that one person. And are exceptionally happy if they choose you too. :)

"Hope is a state of mind, not of the world. Either we have hope or we don't; it is a dimension of the soul, and it's not essentially dependent on some particular observation of the world or estimate of the situation. Hope is not prognostication. It is an orientation of the spirit, and orientation of the heart; it transcends the world that is immediately experienced, and is anchored somewhere beyond its horizons ...Hope, in this deep and powerful sense, is not the same as joy that things are going well, or willingness to invest in enterprises that are obviously heading for success, but rather an ability to work for something because it is good, not just because it stands a chance to succeed. The more propitious the situation in which we demonstrate hope, the deeper the hope is. Hope is definitely not the same thing as optimism. It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out." Vaclav Havel

Your points are true, but what to do? Is there more than hoping?

So glad to see a new post - and to hear of top secret productivity! Post a peep show (of the book jacket, of course ;))

I've been away from your blog too long, my dear. It was a joy to have so much new to read though. That double edged sword LOL

There is so much here that struck home for me. My honey came back from Kuwait due to a death in the family. I took some things totally the wrong way, and we ended up fighting. Last thing he needed, and the first time we've not come to some sort of detente before saying farewell.

Then end of this post said it all.. I want to be the exception. His marriage didn't work out....he was single for many years before we met (or at least celibate). I want to be the one who fits into his life, and I want to do it without major changes in who I am. Yet I can see I have a lot to learn about him in order to know when it's time to be angry/hurt and when life has just gotten in the way.

The one good thing about this ickyness is that I've started being more creative finally. It feels really tingly snugly good to write a new piece or finish a new graphic. I've even made a blog dedicated to that LOL

Thanks,as always, for your magnificent words. xxx
