I found an island in your arms
Country in your eyes
Heaven’s no longer above
And hellfire’s a promise away

I caught a glimpse
But it’s been forgotten
I love the way you lie
So here we are again

Just gonna stand there
And watch me burn
So let it rain down
And wash everything away

Who's that conscience sticking on the sole of my shoe?
Take me, I am an ordinary player in the key of C
And when they say that you're not good enough
Well the answer is, you're not
They are handcuffs on the soul, my friends
Handcuffs on the soul, and worse
But where was it when I first heard a sweet sound of humility?
It came to my ears in the goddamn loveliest melody.
It was in a foreign hotel's bathtub I baptized myself in change.
And one by one I drowned all of the people I had been.
Because you cannot walk with the holy if you're just a halfway decent man
"Oh my patient prisoner you have waited for this day
and finally you are free! You are free! You are freezing."
I’ll try to say a little more:
Love went on and on
But there was nothing left between
The Nameless and the Name.
How grateful I was then to be part of the mystery,
to love and to be loved. Let's just hope that is enough.
And everything about it is a love song
Everything about it
Everything about it is a love song
Everything about it

I've been carving you
to see what form you'd take
you were hiding in ivory
I just wanted to free your shape

I've heard the sound
That silence makes
And I realize the world
Can break
From the inside out
Or outside in
On a breath of wind

Two of my faves.
