You know how a lot of commenters say… “this was really timely for me”? Well, damn it but this is coming at the right time.

I’ve always always wanted to write a book. Now it looks like things are moving in that direction and I can’t wait to share my thoughts as I go through the whole process. More posts like these please!

Bottom line here – whether you are looking for a publisher OR AN AGENT they will ask the same question.

“How will you promote this book? What is your platform?”

Shakespere could not get a book deal in this climate because the days of the recent Smith English major grads pouring through piles of manuscipts is over. They don’t exist.

The glamourous book tour paid for by publishers is no more unless you are a famous author. They even complain.

Why? MONEY. Budgets are non existant.

The biggest and possibly only advantage of getting a publisher is their distribution system. It is hard to get into the major chains.

But we have the Internet now!

So, you are right. Get a platform first. But you need a big one like Garyvee. Get to work.

You can also self publish. If you can show that you have sold 10,000 books on your own – they will talk to you.
