Women, sex and religion. Jesus Christ and sacrifice. Mary and mothering through fire. (Just imagine the weight of “I’m telling Dad!”) Princess Tales. Women Who Run With the Wolves. I will no longer offer up my flesh to the cross and nails. I will not take one for the team unless the team is taking it too. (Preferably naked, and together). I will not be the sacrifice. I will not accommodate or wait. I will not earn my breadcrumbs or my man. I will not earn it, period.

Poignant and succinct as always. There’s a lot of depth in those few lines. After three readings I think I’m beginning to get it.

Oooooh. You HAD to know I’d love this one! Preach it, woman!

Why did this sentence stop me in my tracks: I will not accommodate or wait.
I may never be the same.

Longtime reader/first commenter here. I don’t know if you’re angry, proud, or both. Either way, never boring. Good stuff.

Getting nailed takes on a whole new meaning reading this.

Hot damn, lady. Sing it!

I agree. Hot damn. I love it. Can I borrow this to send to a man who will not leave me alone (I’m telling Dad!) I will not be the sacrifice.
Maybe then he will get the picture, don’t you think?

“I will not be the sacrifice” is the phrase I used to tell my husband I wanted to separate. It no longer mattered that there were a million and one reasons that he should stay. Thank you for the validation Kelly. Thank you for reminding me, two months into it, my sacrifice is not an option!!

I’ve been in a 35-years long relationship.First half, deeply satisfying, sexually outrageous, emotional tender. Then, in my view, she had her menopause. She is COMPLETELY different. Therapist friends, hear me talk of her habit of turning all conversations so that she’s always right, I’m ALWAYS wrong, then tell me she has a raging Narcissistic Personality Disorder.. She NEVER sees this/and/or admits it. EVERYTHING that was important to me, she has killed. It’s awful!
