Yeah, it takes a while, but you get to the place where you just accept all of yourself as you are. If someone else has a problem with it, I am thinking that it IS THEIR problem, not mine.

You know what? I wouldn’t be any other way. I work with people who appear to have never thought about how others might see them, and it’s a scary place to be.

My lovely Quaker elf therapist calls this comparing our insides to other people’s outsides. And I do it every day, perhaps every hour. I get it. I’m 46 and thought I’d be way past caring now.

BUT in exchange for overthinking and overcomparing comes a great deal of creativy and compassion. The “put togethers” of this world, a mythical creature perhaps, probably don’t feel things as deeply.

Babe. Seriously. This was fucking awesome. And yes, I had to say fucking awesome, because regular awesome doesn’t cut it, at all. In addition to being well-thought out and eloquently delivered, the writing style itself was enough to make me want to lay this on the floor and roll around in it. It’s a rare talent to be able to write thinky thoughts in a beautiful way, and I commend you for it.
