Hi Beth,
Thanks for the comments, I always appreciate your thoughts - and yes, you're totally right. I made the connection between panic attacks and low blood sugar too. Thanks for the heads up!

Being Jewish, the big fast day for me had always been Yom Kippur. I wish I could say that I had at least one epiphany, but I didn't. Instead, all I thought about was food.

I've since realized that fasts aren't good for me personally, and as long as I eat nutritiously and soundly, I'm good. I no longer follow Yom Kippur, at least not with my stomach.

I do admire your trying Ramadan. It always sounded daunting to me.

BTW, your panic attacks mentioned in a previous entry might've been due to your fasting. Not sure, just a thought.

Loved this posting!!

Hi Allison - Thanks for your note. I checked out your blog and LOVED your post on the online bookstore you discovered. I'm in! And if I ever have an email bot, it will sound all sassy and irreverent just like autoresponder you wrote about.

Thanks Komal - I was thinking the same thing while I was fasting: I am missing out. I don't get to break the fast with friends and famiy each night. Next time :)

Very cool that you tried something like this. Growing up Catholic, I never understood the point of fasting. Only recently have I begun to understood its possible importance and usefulness, if done for the right reasons and an appropriate approach like yours. Your self-revelations were wonderful to read.

Haha, love your perspective. The first couple days are always hard so you have my sympathy.
Though I should tell you, Muslims (in Pakistan at least)know how to make up for 14 hours of fasting. Ramazan is just as much about food as it is about fasting :P
